2008 Hall of Fame Inductee
Despite having her career carry her to Oregon and now Kentucky, Kim MacDougall Moore still manages to make it back to Cleveland to meet up former teammates from her time with the John Carroll swimming and diving team.
The 1990 graduate took eighteen total conference titles at JCU; nine titles came as an individual competitor while nine came as a member of a relay. In 1987 and 1988, MacDougall Moore took six titles, again split between individual and relay events. In 1987, 1988 and as a senior in 1990, MacDougall Moore was named team MVP.
The three-time MVP did not mention her seven PAC titles or the two she won in the OAC but the camaraderie that developed with her teammates, particularly when JCU began hosting the OAC championships.
“We did everything together,” MacDougall Moore said. “Not only did we swim together, we ate together and did everything else together.”
MacDougall Moore now calls London, Kentucky home as she teaches high school social studies. She is married with two boys who are ages 10 and 11. However, they likely won’t be dominating freestyle events like their mother, as they are both football players.
Like many Blue Streak athletes, MacDougall Moore credits her time in athletics for aiding her education.
"Athletics kept me on track with my education,” she said. “I knew if I wasn’t performing in the classroom I wasn’t going to be in the pool.”
MacDougall Moore’s yearly rendezvous’ with her former teammates in Cleveland is part of her way of staying in touch with the team she led to four straight conference titles.
“We will always treasure our years together at JCU,” MacDougall Moore said. “All of my best friends today are from JCU.”
