JCU Lacrosse plays in first game against varsity team, loses to Oberlin 17-3
The Blue Streaks showed up at historic Oberlin College this past Sunday to play the NCAA Division III Oberlin College Yeomen. The team was looking forward to playing up a division, but early on did not match the pace of the Yeomen.

The game started with the Yeomen and the Blue Streaks exchanging goals, as Aaron Syguda found the net for the Streaks only a few minutes into the game. However, Oberlin College quickly showed off their stick work while the John Carroll offense struggled and went up 9-1 on the Streaks at the end of the first quarter.

After the first quarter, the defense made some adjustments and the John Carroll midfielders, led by Charlie Rizzo and Ryan Barrett hustled and made a few big hits to keep some momentum.

The Streaks picked up their play in the second half with solid defense from junior Ryan Heller and freshman Peter Grisanti. Moreover, freshman Kevin Barker and senior Pat Bloomstine excelled on faceoffs in the second half, getting to several loose balls and helped get the ball to the offense as they were also able to put two more goals on the board.

Goals from freshman Frank Kinmouth and Sophomore Pat Durkin late in the second half gave the Streaks a bit of energy, but in the end the Blue Streaks did not have enough to overcome the Yeomen, losing by a final score of 17-3.
