Men's Cross Country Finishes In Top Half of Field At Wilmington

The John Carroll men's cross country team placed 11th of 26 teams at the Wilmington College Fall Classic Friday in Wilmington, Ohio.
Final Results
Taking the overall title was the University of Rio Grande with 89 points. Not far behind was Ohio Athletic Conference foe Otterbein College with 105 points. John Carroll scored 285 points to finish among the top half of the competition.
Individually, freshman
Jacob Smith led John Carroll for the sixth time in as many races. His mark of 26:57 was good enough to land him inside the top 30 at 29th.
Freshman
Nick Wojtasik (Erie, PA, Mercyhurst Prep) placed second for the Streaks in as many attempts as he finished at 56th (27:38).
Pat Burns (Solon, OH, Solon ), another freshman, finished 61st with a mark of 27:49, while
Jeff Sigmund (Streetsboro, OH, Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit) finished two spots behind Burns at 63rd with a time of 27:52.
Senior
Mike Joseph (Euclid, OH, Gates Mills Gilmour Academy) finished fifth for the Blue Streaks with a mark of 28:40.
