The rebuilding of the John Carroll men's swimming & diving program into a league championship contender took another step forward Saturday, as the Blue Streaks ripped host Wilmington College, 141-62, in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet.

Final Results

Alex Vereshchagin (Solon, OH, Solon) (200 Free and 100 Breast) and Eric Davis (Canfield, OH, Canfield)(50 Free and 100 Fly) led a list of nine winners against the Quakers as John Carroll more than doubled up Wilmington in the season opening meet for both squads.

Vereshchagin won the 200 Free in 2:07.27 and the 100 Breast in 1:15.45, while Davis took the 50 Free in 26.16 and the 100 Fly in 1:03.19.

Other individual victories were posted by James Ranallo (Willoughby, OH, Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin) in the 200 IM (2:28.17), Max Wilberding (Stuart, FL, John Carroll) in the 100 Back (1:08.37), and Nicholas Grady (Cleveland, OH, St. Ignatius) in the 400 Free (4:42.36).

Both relays won races Saturday, as the 200 Medley and 200 Free quartets came through. Blake Pinchot (Solon, OH, Solon) , Melvin Vazquez (Cleveland, OH, Padua Franciscan) , Davis and Tony Russo (Solon, OH, Solon) won the medley event in 1:57.00, while John Reynolds (Chicago, IL, St. Ignatius College Prep) , Vereshchagin, Ryan Tipping (Landsowne, PA, St. Joseph's Preparatory School) and Drew Edson (Birmingham, MI, Brother Rice High School)  won the free event in 1:48.50.
