Blue Streak Men Finish Eighth At OAC Cross Country Championships

The John Carroll Blue Streaks with its young cast of characters placed eighth out of ten teams Saturday afternoon at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Wilmington College.

Final Results

The Heidelberg Student Princes finished with 42 points to defeat runner-up and defending champion Ohio Northern which finished with 49 points. John Carroll tallied 232 points to finish eighth.

Sophomore Jeff Sigmund was the top Blue Streak in the race, placing 42nd in a time of 27:04.22. He was followed across the finish line by fellow sophomore Jake Smith, who was 52nd in a time of 27:15.78. 

Freshman Nick Wojtasik was next in line for JCU, placing 63rd in 27:29.93. Freshman Pat Burns was 63rd for the Blue Streaks, chalking up a time of 27:35.85.

Ross Bernard was the final scorer for John Carroll, as the freshman placed 99th in a time of 28:58.74.
