The JCU Rowing team continues to focus on finishing the season strong

On Saturday October 3rd, the John Carroll University Rowing Team travelled to Pittsburgh for the annual Head of the Ohio Regatta.  The year’s race featured the most competition in its history, attracting many top notch varsity and club programs from the Midwest.  The Blue Streak crew, almost entirely all freshman and sophomores, entered most of its races as the underdog and looked the part as the no JCU boat finished in the top half.

To add to the frustration, afternoon racing was cancelled due to high winds and unsafe rowing conditions.  The Men’s Lightweight Four, Women’s Varsity Four, and Women’s Novice Four, all of which had high expectations, were forced to go without a race.

The Blue Streak Crew will be doing its final racing of the fall season on October 24th at the Speakmon Memorial Regatta in Columbus.  With three weeks left, the team will focus on maximizing these final weeks by doing additional workouts and perfecting their existing race plan.  The rowers have committed to excellence and want to end the season with their best racing to date.
