The John Carroll University men’s soccer team had four players who received honors on the 2009 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Soccer Teams as announced by the league office.

Senior Ryan Ricart, juniors Joe Ciacchi and Kyle Buxman and sophomore Jake Milli were all chosen by the conference’s head coaches to receive various honors based on their performances this season. 

For the second consecutive year, Milli was chosen second team All-OAC. Primarily used as a defender throughout the season, Milli played in 18 matches and assisted with three goals this year. Milli is part of a defense that yielded the third fewest goals per game (0.95) in the league in 2009.

Despite being injured for a few matches, Ciacchi was still able to play in 17 games this season to earn second team OAC honors. He tallied three goals throughout the season to go along with three assists. These totals ranked Ciacchi fifth on the team with nine points as he earned All-OAC honors for the first time.

Ricart received honorable mention All-OAC status this season. He appeared in all 21 matches to earn his fourth varsity letter. Ricart scored two goals and had two assists this season, and joined Milli as part of a defense that yielded the third fewest goals per game (0.95) in the league in 2009. ricart is also a first time All-OAC honoree.

Buxman was also a key player for John Carroll this season, earning honorable mention status on the OAC team. Playing in 19 matches, Buxman accumulated 10 points total throughout the season which ranked third on the team. Buxman is a first time member of the All-OAC squad

Through the efforts of Ricart, Ciacchi, Buxman and Milli, the Blue Streaks finished the season 9-7-5 overall and 3-3-3 in the conference. John Carroll finished tied for fifth in the OAC this season and reached the OAC Tournament for a league-record 16th time in the 17-year history of the postseason playoff.
