Jeff Sigmund had the top time for the Blue Streaks Saturday afternoon at the 2009 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Men's Cross Country Championship, as John Carroll placed 28th of 36 teams in the 8,000-meter race held in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Final Results

Calvin College earned its 14th straight NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Men's Cross Country Championship with a score of 73, and Heidelberg joined the Knights as automatic qualifiers for next weekend's national meet with a score of 94.

John Carroll amassed 770 points with a trio of runners placing among the top 150 in a field of 248 runners. 

Sigmund placed 118th overall with a time of 28:06.54 as the top JCU runner in the meet. Following the sophomore across the finish line for John Carroll was freshman Pat Burns, who placed 136th with a time of 28:19.33. Fellow rookie Nick Wojtasik was 145th with a mark of 28:29.63.
