Micca and Stevenson Named to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Team

John Carroll University senior linemen Joseph Micca and Brian Stevensen were selected for the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV football team.

Both players were named to the first team that was announced Thursday,  November 6 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Both players are part of an offensive line that through the first seven games of the season, has only allowed just five sacks.

Micca is an Exercise Science major who carries a 3.92 grade point average. Micca is a senior from Rochester, New York. He is the team's starting center this season and will earn his second varsity letter.

Stevenson, a senior from Mentor, Ohio,  is an Education major who carries a 3.83 grade point average. As an offensive guard, Stevenson will earn his third varsity letter this season. Stevenson has played in seven games thus far this season.

Nominees for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American program must be key contributors to their sports with atleast a 3.30 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career. In addition, the student-athletes must also have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing.

District IV is comprised of collegiate institutions located in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

On July 15, 2000, Brian Unk became the first John Carroll graduate to win an event on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour, capturing the $125,000 Eagle Creek Classic, played at the par-72, 7,067-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario.
