John Carroll was impressive in a pair of wins that enabled the Blue Streaks to sweep their weekend dual meets against crosstown rival Notre Dame College Friday and Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union Saturday at Johnson Natatorium.

In the 153-86 win over Mount Union, the Blue Streaks racked up 11 first-place finishes. Sophomores Eric Davis and Alex Vereshchagin each had a hand in three of the wins. Davis won the 200 IM (2:06.81) and the 100 Fly (58.07), and joined with Blake Pinchot, Melvin Vazquez and David Perchinske to win the 200 Medley Relay (1:56.37).

Vereshchagin won the 50 Free (22.48) and 100 Free (49.11), and was part of the winning 200 Free Relay team (1:30.78) that also included Jimmy Ranallo, Drew Edson and Nicholas Grady. The JCU quartet nipped Mount Union's "A" relay by .20 of a second.

Other winners for JCU included David Essi in 1-meter diving (208.65) and Stanton Kochanek in 3-meter diving (208.65), Pinchot in the 100 Back (58.28), Ranallo in the 500 Free (5:00.24) and Vazquez in the 100 Breast (1:05.79).

John Carroll trounced Notre Dame, 113-82, the night before as it stopped scoring points following its win in the 500 Free. Ranallo (1000 Free and 500 Free), Vereshchagin (50 Free and 100 Free), and Davis (200 IM and 100 Fly) were all multiple winners.
