John Carroll’s Men’s Lacrosse team remained undefeated with a non-league win over the Butler Bulldogs by the score of 13 - 10. The Blue Streaks were bolstered by the return of goalkeeper H Kassigkeit who made nine saves in the first half. He was replaced in net in the second half by Aaron Syguda who made seven saves.
Unlike in the Oakland game last week, the Streaks usually staunch defense showed a few holes and Butler was able to exploit them for an early 2-0 lead. However, the JCU offense was able to get it together and close the first half on 7 – 1 run. John Carroll was actually outscored 7 – 6 in the second half but they did just enough to win the game.
Offensively, the Streaks were once again led by junior attack Josh Tatro’s six points (two goals, four assists). He was helped by hat-tricks from midfielders Christian Cirillo and Kevin Barker (also one assist). Other multi-point contributors included freshman attack A.J. Catalano (two goals), freshman midfielder Frank Kinmonth (two goals), and sophomore attack Pat Durkin (one goal, one assist). Butler’s intense lock-off defense was very effective in keeping sophomore midfielder Miguel Lopez off the score sheet, This has become the norm for opposing defenses in attempting to shut down one of JCU’s most potent weapons.
