Dashers, hurdlers, relay runners and jumpers all combined to score points for John Carroll, helping the Blue Streaks earn 12th place overall out of 20 teams competing at the 2009 All-Ohio Track & Field Division III Championships Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
JCU tallied 25 points for its 12th place showing. Host Ohio Wesleyan won the team competition with 108 points, just ahead of Ohio Northern's 100.
The dash points were courtesy of Kasey Schwing, who was third in both the 100-meter dash (10.80 to rest the school record for the second time this spring) and the 200-meter dash (22.13, just .08 off the school record he set two weeks ago).
The hurdles points were accrued by David Hickey, who finished third in the 400-meter event (54.08).
Garnering a point in the triple jump with his eighth place finish was RK Glover, whose best distance of the day was 10.74 meters (41-08 1/2).
Two relays also got into the point scoring feast. the 4 x 100 crew of Raj Arasu, Schwing, Tony Mihalich and Matt Mihalich finished fifth in 43.07. The 4 x 400 quartet of Schwing, Hickey, Nick Hallal and Tony Mihalich claimed seventh place in 3:28.72.
