John Carroll has made strides forward throughout the 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons, and hopes their hard work pays off at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25 hosted by the Wilmington Quakers.

All ten of the OAC colleges will compete for the league title. Friday’s competition will start at noon and Saturday’s will begin at 10 a.m. Spectators will be charged for admission -- Adults $5 (2 day pass for $8) and non-OAC students $2. OAC students with proper identification are free.
At the 2008 OAC Championships, the Mount Union men took all the glory and finished first overall last year with the Ohio Northern men following a close second. The John Carroll team is hoping to improve over last year, finishing 7th overall.
In preparation for the 2009 championships, John Carroll has a number of athletes who will contend for first place titles or top three finishes to earn all-conference status.
Kasey Schwing (Streetsboro, OH, Streetsboro) is ranked in the top three of both the 100-meter dash (10.81) and the 200-meter dash (22.05). David Hickey (Stow, OH, Akron St. Vincent - St. Mary)will vie for the league title as he has the second best time in the league in the 400-meter hurdles (53.52).
In the 110-meter hurdles, Dennis Love (Bedford, OH, St. Peter Chanel) holds the fourth place slot (15.53) and teammate Michael Hlatky (Brooklyn Heights, OH, Cleveland St. Ignatius) has the 8th place position with a time of 16.40. Hlatky is also is loking to capitalize on his 7th overall ranking in the high jump with a height 1.92 meters.
RK Glover (Wayzata, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's Academy)is looking to contend for the triple jump title as he is currently ranked 2nd with a jump of 3.14 meters. He should also factor into the mix in the long jump, where he is currently ranked 7th overall the OAC (6.44 meters).
Amongst the throwers, Lou Galiano (Mayfield, OH, Mayfield) is ranked 9th with is mark of 13.48 meters -- just short of his throw in 2008 measuring up to 14.13 meters. Steven Borowy (Garfield Hts., OH, Trinity) is ranked the highest of JCU throwers listed in 7th in the discus (41.12 meters) and 9th in the javelin (47.16 meters).
