Results

The John Carroll Blue Streaks swept the three doubles matches and made quick work of two singles opponents to finish off Muskingum, 5-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship quarterfinal round match-up held at Raquet Club East Tuesday in Bedford Heights, Ohio.

In a battle of the #3 seeded Blue Streaks and the #6 Muskies -- who had faced each other this past Saturday in the regular season finale (won by JCU, 7-2) -- the higher seeded hosts got the jump on Muskingum thanks to solid doubles play. Michael Hulseman and Ross Venzke were the first off the court with an 8-2 win at #3 doubles.

Shortly thereafter, the #2 duo of Janes Steward and Michael Finissi posted an 8-5 win. In the tightest battle, The #1 tandem of Chad Ruehs and Matt Tomayko got past Jayson Hilborn and Adrian Matthews, 8-6.

Hulseman would then put JCU on the brink of victory with a 6-0 6-2 win at #6 singles. The freshman then turned it over to the team's senior leader Steward, who put the finishing touches on the 5-0 shutout with a 6-2 6-0 win at #1 singles.

JCU advances to the OAC Semifinals, where they will face #2 seed Ohio Northern at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, on Friday, May 1. The semifinal round match will commence at 1:00 p.m.
