NCAA Championship Update: David Hickey Competes In Division III National Meet
David Hickey NCAA preview
"13" is a lucky number for David Hickey at the 2009 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships
John Carroll University sophomore David Hickey qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships and placed just where he was expected to finish, 13th overall in the 400-meter hurdle event.

The heat and warm Ohio sunshine was at record temps when Hickey ran the event at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 21.   Hickey made the field in the 400-meter hurdles, posting the 13th fastest time in the nation this year. His time of 53.54 was a sniff over his qualifiying time of 53.24 at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational on May 8.

Hickey was the sole Blue Streak to qualifiy for the 2009 Division III Championships held in Marietta, Ohio and reflected that it was "a unique experience".  He went onto say that he was pleased to have reached the "ultimate goal and qualify for a National meet.  It was a great feeling".

Head Coach Dara Ford commented, "The first time a runner competes on the national stage it is truly about the experience.  There is so much to take in, the crowd of spectators, fellow athletes and the level of competition make an impression.  I am proud of David and his performance and this is great experience to grow from.  I can't wait until next year for his 2nd time around on this level".
