John Carroll junior Blake Furgerson was named to the PING Division III Men's Golf All-American Team for his efforts during the 2008-2009 season by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The GCAA announced the national award winners shortly after the conclusion of the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championship. Furgerson was tabbed to the third team, becoming the first John Carroll player to earn All-America honors since Steve Voinovich in 1997.
Furgerson, who was one of five players who competed as an individual at the Division III Championships that were held May 13-16 the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, was an All-OAC performer this past season. In nine regular season tournaments this year, Furgerson was a top ten finisher in all nine, including medalist honors on four occasions.
In being named to the 2009 PING All-American team, Furgerson was one of just 38 Division III players nationwide to be accorded that honor.
