John Carroll's appearance at the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament came to an abrupt end Sunday afternoon, as Mount Union would knock out the Blue Streaks by a 6-0 count at the Ohio Northern softball field in Ada, Ohio.

Mount Union scored single unearned runs in the fourth and fifth inning, then broke the game wide open in the seventh with four runs, three on a home run by Jill Rader.

JCU's best chance to score came in the first inning when Erin Riccardi followed a Michelle Murphy single with a double, but Murphy was thrown out at home. Bre Willis would allow just four hits beyond the first inning and retired the final 12 batters in handing John Carroll just its second shutout loss of the 2009 season.

Murphy was the lone Blue Streak named to the OAC All-Tournament team.

John Carroll ends the campaign with a record of 28-11, with the 28 victories standing as a single-season school record.
