John Carroll University would like to announce the hiring of Ron Dorchak as the new Rowing Head Coach.

Coach Dorchak began his rowing career at St. Mary’s Preparatory in Michigan. His results in high school earned him a scholarship to Mercyhurst College, in Erie, PA where he was twice named team Most Valuable Rower and team captain.  His senior year, he was stroke seat of the men’s varsity 4 that earned a gold medal at the ECAC National Championship Regatta and set the course record.

Following his collegiate rowing career, Coach Dorchak moved to Cleveland to work for Sodexo Health Care Services.  Also, from Fall 2006 through Spring 2009, he volunteered as the head coach of Cleveland State University’s Rowing Team.  In his tenure at CSU, the Vikings enjoyed their best results in team history, including their first Home School’s and Hammer Ergatta Championships in 2009.   He currently lives in Parma with his wife, Kelly.
