Four Blue Streaks placed in the top 100 of the individual standings to lead John Carroll to a 17th place finish in the small college division of the National Catholic Championships Friday afternoon at Burke Memorial Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana.

Final Results

Bellarmine scored 43 points to claim the small college title, followed Wheeling Jesuit (110) and Siena Heights (142). JCU amassed 429 points to finish behind NAIA school Brecia (413).

Jacob Smith (New Richmond, OH, Covington Latin) was the top finisher for John Carroll with a time of 27:43.3, placing 48th. Jeff Sigmund (Streetsboro, OH, Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit) was next across in 28:30.1 to place 76th. Pat Burns (Solon, OH, Solon ) (28:56.8, 97th) and Nick Wojtasik (Erie, PA, Mercyhurst Prep) (28:58.1, 98th) also earned places among the top 100.

In the overall team standings, host school University of Notre Dame won the team title with 24 points, followed by Xavier (119) and Bellarmine (120).
