Tables Turned On Streaks As Missing Points Add Up To Home Loss Against Yeomen

Back in November, staged at a neutral pool, the John Carroll men's diving team turned in a convincing 59-point win over Oberlin College at the Veale Classic held at Case Reserve.

The second time around, on Friday evening at the Johnson Natatorium, even home pool advantage failed to stem the tide of what would become a 124-108 loss to those same Yeomen.

With several swimmers out of the line-up for various reasons, John Carroll did not have enough firepower to avoid the loss.

As for those who did compete, Drew Edson, Eric Davis and Stanton Kochanek had the best evenings.

Edson had a hand in two wins, including one as an individual. He swam to a convincing victory in the 1000-yard free, beating the field by over 18 seconds with his winning mark of 10;41.28.

Davis was the class of the field in the 200-yard fly, as his 3.49 margin of victory would attest. his winning time was 2:05.02.

Kochanek swept the 1- and 3-meter diving competition, topping 200 points on both boards.

Davis led off and Edson anchored John Carroll's lone relay victory over the evening. Also featuring David Perchinske and Jimmy Ranallo, the 200-yard free relay team posted a come-from-behind win, nipping Oberlin at the wall, 1:31.344 to 1;32.14.

JCU's record drops to 5-5 on the year with the setback.
