Less than 72 hours after travelling to a prestigious two-day event in Chicago, the John Carroll wrestlers were back on the road and taking on a nationally ranked opponent Tuesday night.

Proving there would be no rest for the weary, the Blue Streaks battled hard but fell to Heidelberg University, 30-9, in Tiffin.

The 'Berg won seven of the nine matches contested, including the four closest bouts that were decided by a grand total of seven points.

Right off the bat, JCU lost a heartbreaker at 125 when Greg Stolfer fell to Delian Schneider, 11-8,  Stolfer had a 4-1 lead and a large amount of riding time built up, but gave up two take downs and two near falls in the final two minutes.

After a forfeit at 133 staked Heidelberg a 9-0 lead, JCU lost yet another close bout at 141. David Malkus fell to Sam Delpra, 6-5, in a match where riding time (3:43) provided the decisive point.

Connor Suba put forth a dominating effort to get JCU on the board, as he blanked Brandon Burkett for an 8-0 major decision.

Heidelberg dominated the next three matches, winning all by major decision, to put some distance between the two teams scores.

John Carroll's 184-pounder Ben Adams would halt the Student Princes run, producing a technical fall (16-1) for the Blue Streaks' final points of the night.

A third period takedown decided yet another close bout for Heidelberg as Brad Rice outlasted Jim Nemunaitis for a 3-1 victory at 197 pounds.

In the final bout of the night, Alec Barker built a 5-1 lead only to fall 8-7 insudden victory overtime to Jerry Knapp at 285 pounds.

The win closes out Heidelberg’s OAC dual mark at 5-1 and are 8-7 overall. The Blue Streaks stand at 2-3 against league foes and 5-6 overall.
