Men's Lacrosse - Pitt Game Review

The Blue Streaks opened their 2010 season at the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday, February 13th. After several tough weeks of practice and a preseason scrimmage against Kent State, the team was excited to see how they measure up against an MCLA Division 1 team.  Both teams came out excited but sloppy, as neither team could sting much together.

However, the Streaks struck first, scoring the first goal of the game and taking an early 1-0 lead on a goal from freshman Chad Riley. However, the Streaks would not stay on top for long. With early season troubles in the faceoff and transition game the Blue Streaks gave up 5 unanswered goals and went into the half trailing 5-1. At break was the team disappointed in its missed opportunities but felt with a more discipline half they could get back in the game.  Strong play from goalie JP Washington and the John Carroll defense kept the struggling Streaks in the game well into the second half and goals from freshman Andy Seil and junior Pat Durkin gave the Streaks a bit of a burst. However, the Panthers depth and riding game proved too much, putting up 7 goals in the fourth quarter to end the Streaks' hopes and run away with the game winning 16-3.

The team will now get back to practice to clean things up before they being Division 2 and CCLA conference play.  John Carroll will continue its season on February 27th when they make their way to North Carolina to faceoff against out of conference foes #16 UNC-Charlotte and #7 Elon University.
