John Carroll University senior forwards
Caitlin Sureck (Medina, OH, Walsh Jesuit) and
Laura Gruber (Minster, OH, Minster) received recognition on the 2010 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Team.
Sureck was named to the Academic All-OAC winners list while Gruber garnered honorable mention status. The two seniors were instrumental to the Blue Streaks' frontcourt attack, grabbing 8.2 and 4.1 rebounds per game, respectively.
Sureck is an Exercise Science major who carries a 3.56 grade point average who led the team in rebounds and was second in scoring, averaging 14 points per contest. The senior concluded her collegiate career with 973 points while also setting a new JCU career mark in blocked shots with 190.
Gruber owns a 3.80 grade point average as a Humanities major. The senior tallied 5.3 points per game, having played in 18 contests. The senior leaves JCU having registered 440 career points.
The Academic All-OAC women's basketball winners were voted on by faculty representatives from all conference schools. Nominees must carry a minimum 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore academically. Additionally, the nominees must have been starters or reserves that have made a significant team impact.
