Marlowe Named Academic All-District For Second Consecutive Year, Danilov Makes In For First Time

For the second consecutive year, John Carroll University senior Julie Marlowe was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Softball Team for her efforts on the field and in the classroom this year.
Fellow Blue Streak and sophomore Brittany Danilov achieved the feat for the first time as the team was released this week.
Marlowe, a Business Information Systems major who carries a 3.83 grade point average, earned second team accolades on the All-District IV team, which is comprised of colleges and universities in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. She was also selected to the second team in 2009.
In playing and starting in 37 games this season, Marlowe batted .328 with 30 runs scored and 44 hits. In her career, Marlowe set school records for most career at bats (544) and runs scored (110), tied the record for most triples (8) and is second all-time in base hits with 181.
A member of the JCU Student Union Planning Board and the school's gospel choir, Marlowe has made the Dean's List seven semesters.
Danilov, also a second team seklection for District IV, is an Accounting major who carries a 3.78 grade point average.
In her second season with the Blue Streaks, Danilov would repeat as a first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. As a pitcher, she was 15-9 with 131 strikouts and a 2.65 ERA in 150.1 innings of work. She also batted .309 with seven doubles, one triple and five home runs among her 34 hits. She also had 28 RBi and a slugging percentage of .527.
In her brief career, Danilov already has 35 wins and 285 strikeouts.
Nominees for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American program must be key contributors in their sports with at least a 3.30 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career. In addition, the student-athletes must also have at least sophomore athlethic and academic standing.
