John Carroll Rowing Announces New Team Members for 2010-11

Six incoming freshmen are joining the Blue Streak Crew this year.  These freshmen bring an incredible amount of talent and experience to the team, and the outlook for the upcoming year looks to be very promising with their addition:

Ashley Dikeman, of Buffalo, NY, rowed for four years at Nardin Academy and West Side Rowing Club.  She is a three time New York State champion and took 3rd place at Canadian Nationals in 2010.

Leanna Gonzales, of Toledo, OH, rowed for two seasons at Central Catholic High School and Toledo Rowing Club.  She rowed starboard side and coxed during the fall.

Gabriel Menendez, is a 6'3” lightweight from Orlando, Fl.  He rowed for the Orlando Area Rowing Society throughout his four years of high school.  In the 2009-2010, he was named captain of the team.

Nicholas Crismali, of McLean, VA, is a lightweight starboard rower from Gonzaga College High School.  In addition to his team winning SRA Nationals in 2009, he was a wrestler and his team won the Washington DC city championship.

Jeffery Richards, is a 5'11” lightweight from Manchester, NH.  He rowed for Manchester High School and also played soccer.  He is a port side rower.

The Varsity Rowing Team looks to bring back almost the entire crew from last season and will return to school one week early on Sunday, August 22, to prepare for the fall season.  Those without experience are welcome to try out the sport on Wednesday, September 1st.  Please contact Coach Ron Dorchak (rdorchak@jcu.edu) for details.
