From Saturday, August 7, until Sunday, August 15th, the John Carroll men's soccer team will be plying its trade north of the border in Canada. More specifically, the Blue Streaks will be visiting, practicing and playing in venues throughout the greater Toronto metropolitan area.
Senior Jeff Kosek has agreed to supply correspondence during the team's venture.
Entry #4
Friday began with training at 10 a.m. It was a solid session, and we were rewarded with hot and fresh Italian sandwiches for lunch.
We spent a few evening hours at Square One Shopping Centre. The name is not fitting. The mall has more than 1.6 million square feet of retail area, and more than 360 stores. As expected, Mike Telzrow purchased two new flat brim hats.
As a team, we later met for dinner across the street at Boston Pizza. The barbeque chicken pizza was excellent. Thor Eriksen finished his entire plate.
Saturday morning began with a light stretch and lunch as a team at Mr. Subs, similar to a Subway. There was only one worker present; he could not have been happy.
On our last night in Canada, we faced the Mississauga Falcons at 4 p.m. In the 25th minute, Kyle Buxman played Jeff Kosek, who found Phil Hewitt across the box, finished for the Blue Streaks' first goal. Later in the half, Kyle Buxman found Nick Durkin at the top of the box, who touched the ball to Jeff Kosek, finished for the second goal.
Jerry Rubino and Mike Zumerling held down the defensive end for the remainder of the game, and the result was a 2-0 win for JCU.
Awesome week in Canada; we plan to stop in Niagara Sunday afternoon, and be home Sunday night
