Matt Lenhart, who has been the head coach of the John Carroll University swimming program since 1986, will be leaving the University effective immediately.
"Matt has served the University by giving his time and energy to hundreds of student athletes over his time here," said
Laurie Massa, Director of Varsity Athletics and Recreation at John Carroll. "We thank him for his years of service and wish him well in his future endeavors."Â Â
Taking over the program when John Carroll was a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference, Lenhart led the Blue Streak women to three consecutive league championships from 1987-1989. For his efforts, he was named PAC Women's Coach of the Year three times.

In the 24 OAC Championships in which John Carroll competed under the guidance of Lenhart, the Blue Streaks claimed 17 women's titles and 13 men's crowns.
Lenhart was recognized as the OAC Coach of the Year 19 times (10 on the men's side and nine on the women's side).
At JCU, Lenhart also served as the head coach of the women's golf program, assuming the reigns when the program was founded in 1999.
