The John Carroll University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), bolstered by the success of its inaugural Streaks To the Max event in 2016, is set to launch the sequel.
As part of "D3 Week" which runs from April 3-9, Blue Streak Nation will be asked to come together for Streaks To The Max II, a week long celebration of sport on the JCU campus.

"Once again, this will be a massive undertaking involving all 23 varsity sports programs and the sports information office here at JCU," said Christopher M. Wenzler, John Carroll University Assistant Athletic Director who is the staff advisor for SAAC. "This year's event will encompass the entirety of D3 Week and will feature the various programs hosting events which will showcase their respective sports, or provide some sort of contest in the context of a sporting endeavor. These will be stand alone activities as well as those incorporated with varsity contests. There will also be a swim relay in a nod to last year's Streaks to the Max."
The first Streaks to The Max, which was a 24-hour swim relay, raised over $16,000 to benefit the Max Cure FoundationÂ
"We had some teams like men's and women's swimming & diving and the men's and women's tennis teams really step up and get behind the effort," said Wenzler. "Their leadership carried us on a wave of momentum. We were hoping to raise $5,000 in our first year but we far exceeded that goal. It was really inspiring to see our student-athletes get excited to raise funds for an amazing cause."
Max Cure is an organization chaired by a John Carroll graduate, Jonathan Agin, a men's soccer player from the class of 1994. The three-fold mission of The Max Cure Foundation includes funding research for pediatric cancer treatment development, including efforts to discover less toxic treatments for children with cancer, financially assisting low-income and military families with children battling cancer; and through vigorous advocacy efforts, to pursue legislative and regulatory changes seeking to benefit children with cancer and at the same time, raise awareness to the needs of those fighting pediatric cancers.
More details regarding Streaks To The Max II will be provided in the upcoming weeks as plans are firmed up regarding the week long sports festival on campus. Softball, Baseball and Men's & Women's Lacrosse will all have on-campus varsity contests throughout D3 Week as well, for which Streaks To the Max events will be staged before, in between, or as part of halftime.
As a Jesuit Catholic university, John Carroll inspires individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world. The University finds the source of its inspiration in the experience of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and the centuries-long commitment of the Society of Jesus to academic excellence and service to the common good.
The Streaks to the Max campaign certainly upholds the University mission, and hopefully will serve to further establish the John Carroll University student-athlete as champions of learning, leadership and service.
