2010-11 Required Physicals
All varsity athletes are required to have a physical examination (completed by our JCU Sports Medicine Team Physicians and partners from Cleveland Clinic Sports Health) prior to the first scheduled practice. Our team physicians make the final decision concerning an athlete’s initial physical qualifications to participate in NCAA DIII athletics. If an athlete is qualified to participate and becomes injured while participating, the athletic trainer and/or the team physician will determine when an athlete may return to play.
John Carroll University is not responsible for any previously existing conditions. However, in order to best protect the health of our athletes, it is required that any athlete with a previous medical condition brings copies of those medical records with him/her to the physical. Examples: A visit to the doctor for a heart condition, for an injured knee, for difficulty breathing, etc require all pertinent medical records including EKG, x-rays, MRI’s, etc. to be accessible for the athletes physical. Failure on the part of the athlete or parent to disclose previously existing conditions on their physical may result in a medical disqualification.
The physical dates for the 2010-11 academic year will be:
- August 14, 2010: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Don Shula Stadium Athletic Training Room (primary date for Football)
