London Fletcher

2008 Hall of Fame Inductee

The list of accolades that accompany London Fletcher's career is a long one. Fletcher has yet to miss a game in his ten-year career while amassing eight consecutive 100-tackle seasons.

What is more impressive is that he has become one of the most feared middle linebackers in the NFL after graduating from a Division III school. Despite his ability to play the sport he loves, his education at John Carroll was not lost on him. In an interview with nationally syndicated radio host Jim Rome Fletcher was asked what he would do if the NFL didn't work out. He simply responded that his degree from JCU could get him a job anywhere in the country.

However, his work outside of the classroom is currently earning him paychecks. Fletcher has appeared in two Super Bowls and has one ring to show for it (St. Louis Rams Super Bowl XXXIV). At JCU Fletcher was a finalist for the 1997 Gagliardi Award, the Division III equivalent to the Heisman. Additionally he was the Bill Edwards award winner as the best linebacker in the OAC to accompany his selection as an All-American by Football Gazette in 1996.

Fletcher's name still stands in the JCU record books as the record holder for single game tackles and single season tackles.

After beginning his NFL career with St. Louis he moved on to Buffalo before arriving in Washington last season. He is currently the starting middle linebacker for the Redskins entering the 2008 regular season.
