Lobo

Lobo, the official mascot of John Carroll University varsity athletics, made his debut in the fall of 2008. Created by the athletic department as a way to further energize its fan base, Lobo has been a mainstay at the various sporting events held on campus.

The idea of the wolf comes from the coat of arms of Saint Ignatius Loyola, who was the founder of the Society of Jesus. A lightening bolt was  then added on to the costme to incorporate the Blue Streak spirit.

When it came to naming the mascot, "Lobo" was chosen by popular vote among the student body and alumni during a Homecoming Street Fair.

Aside from Blue Streaks varsity events, Lobo also attends other campus activities such as the Homecoming Steet Fair, on-campus special events, and Pep Rallies, and has also made visits by request at off-campus function in the surrounding community.

Any John Carroll student interested in trying out for the role of Lobo, or any requests for Lobo to be present at a specific event both on campus or off, should contact Jane Evans at jevans@jcu.edu or call 216.397.1663.
