On January 31, 2006 John Carroll University named Hector Marinaro as the head coach of its men's soccer program.

Taking over a JCU squad that was hit hard by graduation losses, Marinaro was able to steadily build the team back up through the season. Despite an 0-7-4 start, Marinaro guided the Blue Streaks to five consecutive victories to close out the regular season and qualify for an Ohio Athletic Conference record 14th league postseason tournament.

His second season brought even more success, as Marinaro led John Carroll to a 13-8-1 record, a fifth OAC tournament title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championship. The Blue Streaks advanced to the round of 32 before being eliminated on penalty kicks.

Now, Marinaro returns with high hopes for his fourth year, after a 9-6-3 record for the 2008 season, including an impressive 7-1-1 record of home games.

Marinaro brought an impressive resume to the job at John Carroll. He is the all-time leading scorer in Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) history, finishing with 1,223 goals and 701 assists over the course of a 21-year playing career -- 16 of which were spent with the Cleveland franchise. On nine different occasions, Marinaro was the MISL scoring champion.

In his final two seasons with the Cleveland Force (2002-04), Marinaro took on an additional responsibility as he doubled as a player and assistant coach.

After being named an all-star fifteen times in his career and leading Cleveland to three league championship titles in the 1990's, the MISL League Most Valuable Player Award was named the Hector Marinaro MVP Award in 2005.

A native of Mississauga, Canada, Marinaro also played nine seasons with the Toronto Blizzard of the Canadian Soccer League and has been a member of the Canadian National Team, most recently in 2002.
